Way of the Hunter 2 Updates, Patch Notes, and Roadmap

A dated Way of the Hunter 2 update guide covering patches 1.2 and 1.3, platform notes, fixes, and the official post-launch roadmap.

The reliable way to follow a Way of the Hunter 2 update is to record the announcement date, build number, platform coverage, and the exact feature or fix. As of this page’s verification date, the official update trail includes Patch 1.2 build 213891 on October 7, 2026 and Update 1.3.0.215031 on October 14, 2026. Both were announced for PC Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Patch information is time-sensitive, so this page is a dated reference rather than a promise that the same build remains current.

Update 1.3: the current checked milestone

Update 1.3.0.215031 is the newest official patch recorded in this site’s source ledger. Its two headline additions were non-typical Mule Deer trophies and HUD customization. Non-typical trophies can grow unusual antlers with extra points, irregular shapes, or other distinctive features. The feature was introduced for Mule Deer first; the announcement says more species may follow later.

HUD customization is a separate quality-of-life addition. The update puts individual HUD toggles in Settings, allowing players to remove selected interface elements or keep the information they need while tracking. This does not mean that every control, marker, or Hunter Assist element has the same toggle. Open the current Settings menu and check each label rather than copying a menu path from an older video.

The 1.3 notes also fix the dog status indicator when the dog is not active and remove a duplicated Dog Companion Marker setting. Other fixes cover the Hunting Log, .338 Lapua Magnum alternate-ammo behavior, animal survival after multiple shots, fleeing crocodiles, hippos, New Laurentia collision spots, bridges, water, vegetation, PS5 texture loading, localization, and a tutorial blood-color issue.

If a player reports a problem that appears to contradict the 1.3 notes, record the platform, build, save state, and reproduction steps. A patch note says what the developer intended to fix; it is not proof that every old save or every machine has the same result.

Patch 1.2: systems and bug-fix baseline

Patch 1.2 build 213891 went live on October 7, 2026. The official announcement highlights several changes that still matter when reading older guides. Players gained the ability to sell purchased items from Storage for half their original price. Aim assist began accounting for wind without waiting for a shot to recalculate. The flashlight received a brighter mode, and dog and turkey behavior were improved.

The patch also addressed disappearing tents and deployables, a problem that can make a map or reserve appear to have lost player equipment. It fixed a multiplayer invite softlock on a fresh save and an empty multiplayer encyclopedia. Mission, weather, collision, UI, localization, and lodge issues received additional fixes.

The platform note matters: the 1.2 announcement says it was live on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, while the GOG release was expected over the following days. Do not turn the announcement date into a claim that every store delivered the build at exactly the same time.

How to read the official patch history

Use four fields when you add an entry to a Wiki update page:

  1. Build: Preserve the published version number, such as 213891 or 215031.
  2. Date: Use the developer’s announcement date, then verify store rollout separately if needed.
  3. Platforms: Record the platforms named in the announcement.
  4. Scope: Separate additions, tuning, fixes, and unresolved known issues.

This prevents a common error: combining a feature from Early Access, a fix from 1.2, and a roadmap item into one imaginary “current version.” It also keeps a patch note readable for players who only need to know whether a problem is worth testing again.

Roadmap items are not patch notes

The official roadmap describes future work such as more trophy variations, a hunt rating system, additional equipment, advanced dog training, a female hunter, new regions, paid gear DLC, text chat, password-protected sessions, support for more than two players, Persistent Worlds, and co-op expeditions. Those statements describe plans. They do not establish a release date or prove that a feature is present in the current build.

The FAQ repeats the same boundary: Version 1.0 is a milestone, not the end of development. Future support may include free updates and premium DLC, but the exact order and timing can change. A responsible patch tracker keeps roadmap items in a separate section and moves them into the released history only after an official update announces them as live.

When an old guide becomes unsafe

Recheck a guide when it contains any of the following:

  • an Early Access build number;
  • a fixed menu path for HUD, dog, ammo, or aim assist;
  • a statement that tents or deployables always disappear;
  • a claim that a multiplayer encyclopedia is empty;
  • a claim that a trophy type does not exist;
  • a roadmap feature described as if it were already shipped.

Older videos are still useful for showing a route, a visual cue, or a hunting story. They are weak evidence for current controls and balance. Put the build beside every time-sensitive claim and link to the official note that supports it.

Update checklist

Before following or publishing a patch-dependent instruction:

  1. Open the in-game version screen.
  2. Match it to the official build number.
  3. Check whether the note applies to your platform.
  4. Test the smallest reproduction that the note describes.
  5. Keep the old behavior in the article only as dated history.
